PSHA supports the community by awarding grants. California Dance Institute is a past grant recipient.

Over $25 million has been donated to support the arts in our community.

An all-volunteer organization, Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA) is a non-profit California Corporation whose members donate their time and talents to produce the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design as its fundraiser. Founded in 1948, and formerly known as The Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee, they adopted the Pasadena Showcase House of Design as their annual benefit in 1965. It is one of the oldest, largest, and most successful house and garden tours in the nation. Showcase members are legendary in the community.

Imagine renovating an entire estate in ninety days with every room and garden being done by a different design firm. Then imagine being open for tours and adding a pop-up restaurant and shopping to enhance the visitors’ experience. About 90 members with a myriad of backgrounds accomplish the Herculean feat of producing the Showcase House. Many work long hours at their Showcase “jobs” and are infamous for accomplishing the nearly impossible. Additionally, they administer a robust Gifts & Grants program and organize and staff three annual music programs. The organization is also strongly supported by 150 Associate members who provide financial support and volunteer their time at the Showcase House. The dedication, ingenuity, and hard work of PSHA’s volunteers have enriched the lives of countless people and brought a lasting legacy to the community.

Making an Impact

Through its Gifts & Grants program, PSHA supports music education, scholarships, concerts, choral programs, musical theater, jazz ensembles, marching bands, music therapy and continues its long-standing support of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and its community outreach.

The Music Mobile™ is an award-winning, hands-on program that is presented each year to approximately 2,000 third-grade students throughout the San Gabriel Valley. It provides an introduction to the orchestra and is an opportunity for students to play a selection of symphonic instruments.

At the Instrumental Competition, exceptionally talented young musicians compete for monetary prizes to further their education. Approximately $30,000 is presented annually, with over $500,000 being awarded since its inception in 1985.

Begun in 1953, the Youth Concert is an annual free concert presented to approximately 4,000 fourth-grade students. Held at Walt Disney Concert Hall and presented by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, it cleverly weaves musical concepts and history into an appealing storyline with actors, dancers, costumes, props, sound effects, and technology making for an exuberant performance.
