Make a Difference
The Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition has awarded over $700,000 in prize money since it began in 1985. Musicians who play string, woodwind, and brass instruments compete for individual prizes that range from $1,000 to $5,000 to further their education. The judging panel includes members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and prize monies for the Instrumental Competition are drawn from the proceeds of the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts’ annual fundraiser, the Pasadena Showcase House of Design.
Most competitors have gone on to have distinguished careers. It is a great source of pride for Pasadena Showcase to make a contribution to their education and professional success.
The Instrumental Competition is open to string, woodwind, and brass musicians ages 14 - 19 years of age who are full-time students, reside and attend high school in Los Angeles County.
Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts held its 39th Instrumental Competition on February 21, at Pasadena Conservatory of Music’s Barrett Hall.
